Kids On Air has a daily 30 minute English class with the focus on listening and natural expression. The class is split into two levels; beginners and advanced. The beginners level learn vocabulary and phrases in a natural and fun way through games and activities that help encourage a love for language. The advanced level focuses on developing students’ ability to communicate their thoughts and ideas confidently, through presentations and story telling.
We explored electricity by making squishy circuits!
We made robot insects!
We made hydraulic sumo bots and they’re so much fun!
We made robots with crazy-eyed robots that love to spin and dance.
We made an awesome air cannon that shoots rings of air and smoke across the room.
We explored electric circuits by making LED throwies!
In every corner of the studio you can find another astounding project that the KOA kids have built. A zooming remote-control car, a closed circuit phone system, and mini catapults line the walls. Children who know how to carve, tighten screws, build circuits, and hammer nails are commonplace at KOA. These multitalented pupils, brimming with practical abilities, are the direct result of our kids engineering programme. Here we work closely with students on both individual and group projects, giving them the literal – and figurative – tools they need to build their world to their liking.
We tried to make our own awesome miniature totem poles.
We made what we think a city of the future may look like.
We made our own little drifters using only natural materials and then had them set sail
Within the four walls of KOA we have photographers, printmakers, fashion designers, and budding architects. Our pupils are constantly refining their ability to express themselves. The multitude of different creative arts projects we offer at KOA provide an outlet for this desire to make and do. Those with analytical propensities find an outlet in projects requiring a systematic approach, such as futuristic tower construction, while those with a flair for style find pleasure in portraiture or garment construction. Here we teach self-determination, independence, and confidence in one’s own aesthetic. The results, displayed around our studio, are as thoughtful and creative as the kids who made them.
We experimented with cymatics – visually experiencing sound
We experimented with making our own circuits using play-dough!
Have you ever tried to make toothpaste for an elephant? Inflated a balloon without air? Or seen a snowflake that will never melt? Needless to say, science at KOA is never dull. We recognise that the wonder kids have for the world around them is never unjustified. Our straightforward experiments imbue students with a lifelong curiosity and a strong foundation of knowledge. You’d better come by and check out our studio… we can’t let our pachyderm friends get cavities!
At KOA, students julienne and whisk their way to an insight into international gourmet cuisine. With a different theme and country each month, the recipes we choose, from pretzels to poutine, are a bridge to understanding the way of life of children around the globe. This is not to mention the self-discipline it takes to wait for delicious gingerbread cookies to come out of the oven! The take-home goodies make it easy to see why cooking and baking days are so popular. Bon appétit!
We love cooking and baking food from around the world!
Our sports program is run by teachers with expertise in sports coaching for kids. We enjoy learning and playing a variety of sports and physical activities. Outside we enjoy American football, soccer, athletics and lawn bowling. Rainy days are just as good with indoor activities such as tumbling, yoga, mini golf, and ping pong. Boys and girls play together, learning respect, sportsmanship, and developing a healthy competitive spirit. We place importance on health and wellbeing, and giving each task your best. What a tremendous GOAL!
